The utmost care and research have gone into ensuring that the Segway® PT is safe. The balancing technology is truly revolutionary and provides an exceptional riding experience. With redundant systems and sophisticated alerts built into its design, thousands of hours of use have demonstrated that the Segway® PT is safe when used appropriately. It is important that riders understand their responsibility to ride safely. Proper skill level and understanding of how to operate a Segway® PT prevents injuries caused by loss of control or misuse.

Not at all. Most participants will complete the training in less than 30 minutes. Safety is our top priority and we are dedicated to making sure you’re comfortable before we begin the tour. Guests will practice on the Segway PTs until everyone feels comfortable and ready to tour Halifax!

Anyone 16 years and older, with a valid driver’s license, weighing between 100-260 lbs, is eligible to ride. Riding a Segway® PT is a unique experience. It’s intuitive, but nobody is born knowing how to operate it. That’s why we offer comprehensive training so you can get familiar with the device. A Segway® PT is not an ideal mode of touring for people with mobility issues or pregnant. All guests must be able to easily and quickly step on and off the Segway® PT without any assistance.

It is important to note that the Segway® PT is not designed, tested, or approved as a medical transportation device. Our tours are not a safe option for people with motor control or learning disabilities. Riding a Segway® PT requires physical exertion and standing for long periods.

Please get in touch with us ahead of booking your tour to discuss any mobility or medical inquiries.

We start and end our city tours at our kiosk on the Halifax Waterfront – Salt Yard, located at 1535 SaltYard Way.

Of course! Just like any service provider, gratuities are always appreciated.

We ask all guests to book online at least 24 hours in advance. While we try to accommodate walk-ups, there is no guarantee a guide or tour desired will be available.

All Segway® PT riders must sign a liability waiver before participating. Waivers will be signed when you arrive for your tour.

Please arrive at least 10 minutes before your scheduled tour time.

On-street parking is available and there is a pay-and-park area close to our location. Parking can take time to find. We ask that you give yourself enough time to park and arrive 10 minutes before your tour time.

Public restrooms are available near our location, and a few restrooms are available on our tours.

We are open seven days a week (weather permitting) from May 1 to October 31.

Segway® PTs are designed to run in any weather that does not affect traction.

We operate in fog, light rain and on windy and chilly days. That said, we leave it up to you to decide if you’d still like to ride in the rain. We will contact you an hour before your scheduled tour to discuss your intentions. If bad weather is forecast or weather warnings are in place, we will contact you ahead of time to delay, reschedule or even cancel the tour.

Wear layers of clothing so that you can remove clothing if you are too warm. Given that our tours operate near the ocean, it can be chilly. We have rain gear and gloves for rainy or colder days.

Segway® PT handlebar storage bags are available for smaller items like cameras, light jackets, and purses.

Cancelling your tour must take place at least 48 hours before your time to receive a full refund. If you cancel in less than 48 hours of your tour, we cannot provide a full refund.

We do provide the option of purchasing cancellation insurance, offered for any tour outside of our private corporate tours.  Cancellation insurance is $10 and allows you to cancel your tour at any time, up to time of departure with a notification to Segway Nova Scotia.  A no-show no-call/email will result in the full charge of the tour price.

If you do not show up for your tour, you will be charged in full. Cancellations can be made by calling (902) 880-5583.

You can reschedule your tour up to 2 hours before the scheduled time without penalty.

If you anticipate being late please call or email as soon as you can. If you arrive late, we may not be able to let you participate. Late arrivals will be charged in full regardless of whether they cannot join the tour.

With safety being our top priority, we cannot allow a latecomer to skip or receive training that delays the rest of the group.
